Alamo Kids Camp

The back-to-school ads have started but the kids are still at home, complaining of boredom and running out of things to do. Friday morning, take them to see 'Annie' at 9:30 a.m. at Alamo Village, 'Kung Fu Panda' at 9:35 a.m. at Alamo Slaughter Lane or 'Frankenweenie' at 9:40 a.m. at Alamo Lakeline. Find more showtimes for Alamo Kids Camp at the Drafthouse website.

Quesoff IV

This "annual extravaganza of melted cheese" is always a hugely popular event. Contestants enter in categories of Veggie, Spicy and Meaty. It's free to attend the event and observe all the quesos, but if you want the chance to sample them you'll have to purchase a bag of chips for $5. The event starts at 2 p.m. Saturday  but we recommend showing up a bit early to line up if you intend to sample.

Concerts in the Park

Pack a picnic and gather your friends to hear the Austin Symphony Woodwinds ensemble perform in front of the Long Center City Terrace at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Kelley Mickwee

The Austin singer-songwriter with Memphis roots was part of the duo Jed and Kelley, then the all-girl group the Trishas, but this Tuesday, she releases her first solo effort, 'You Used To Live Here.' Waterloo Records hosts a free in-store performance by Mickwee at 5 p.m. Monday.

Rhythm on Stage

In this summer's final installment of the Long Center's Rhythm on Stage, Jean Claude Lessou teaches west African dance on the Meredith Family Stage in Dell Hall. Instruction begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Blues on the Green

No surprises here, our free pick for Wednesday is Blues on the Green, this week featuring ex-Texan singer-songwriter Robert Ellis and rising local smooth soul sensation the Nightowls. Music begins around 8 p.m.

Unplugged at the Grove

This is the 21st year of KGSR's free live music series on Shady Grove's patio with different artists performing weekly. This week is Kevin Russell's Shinyribs. Music begins at 8 p.m.
