Monday music picks: Soul Track Mind Military Tribute, Ian Moore

By Peter Blackstock and Deborah Sengupta Stith

Soul Track Mind Military Tribute at Threadgill’s. With a Motown-oriented sound, local big band Soul Track Mind has a solid track record of moving shows loaded with plenty of rock ’n’ soul. This event, however, likely will carry a special emotional weight as it’s the culmination of the band’s “Remember Me” project. When the band discovered the song, a heartbreaking meditation on the meaning of legacy, had a special resonance with military families, they decided to rerecord the track and create a video tribute to veterans. Working with the nonprofit Military with PTSD, the band gathered photos and stories from more than 70 service members and their families for the video, which debut at the event. 7 p.m. 301 West Riverside Drive. — D.S.S.

Also: Prodigal Austinite Ian Moore returns from the Pacific Northwest for an acoustic duo show at Strange Brew. … The Ghost Wolves continue their week of record-release festivities with a day-before-release in-store performance at 5 p.m. at Waterloo Records. … ABGB serves up a Memorial Day cookout from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Rosie Flores & the RivetersAmanda Cevallos & the High Hands and Wild Bill & the Lost Knobs.
