It's been a big year for Austin's hip-hop duo Riders Against the Storm. After winning this year's Austin Music Award for Best Band, the husband/wife team of Ghislaine Jean and Jonathan Mahone a.k.a. Qi Dada and Chaka the group landed a spot on this year's Austin City Music Festival lineup. Now they've taken second place in the hip-hop category of International Songwriting Competition for their track "Holy Water" off their 2013 self-titled EP. The competition took over 20,000 songs entries and 66 tracks won.

Riders Against the Storm play Holy Mountain on Saturday, sharing a bill with Holiday Mountain and Magna Carda. They also host a new monthly gig The Tipping Point co-sponsored by seminal online hip-hop community Okayplayer. The next installment, May 17 at Empire Control Room features the League of Extraordinary Gz, Blxpltn, and Keeper.
