With the World Cup shining a light on Brazilian culture, here in Austin we can also enjoy the country’s musical spirit with more than a dozen homegrown bands playing everything from Brazilian funk to samba.

Our Austin360 cover story highlights the rising local Brazilian music scene and what we can expect to dance to in the future.

Check out a few of the bands and music collectives that are actively playing around Austin in a list below. And as long as you’ve got Brazil on the brain, Michael Crockett, host of “Horizontes” on KUTX-FM, compiled a soccer songs playlist for us in honor of the World Cup host country. Catch his show from 1- 4 p.m. Fridays, when the first hour is dedicated to Brazilian songs.

Find out about upcoming local Brazilian music events on our Austin 360 app and at Austin Brazil Events. Know of some more bands? Let us know.
