Tuesday music picks: Love From Syria at Justine's, Owen Campbell

By Peter Blackstock and Deborah Sengupta Stith

Love From Syria at Justine’s. With Arabic love songs rendered over electronic Middle Eastern melodies and techno beats, Syrian wedding singer Omar Souleyman became a YouTube sensation about five years back. Since then he’s taken his upbeat party tracks around the world, thrilling audiences on the international festival circuit. For this show, at the Eastside French restaurant, he’s joined by Austin’s psychedelic funk-mongers the Golden Dawn Arkestra. $28-$38. 8 p.m. 4710 E. 5th St. See the event’s Facebook page for more details. — D.S.S.

Also: Down Under blues-rocker Owen Campbell, a veteran of the "Australia's Got Talent" TV competition, plays songs from his new CD "The Pilgrim" at the Parish Underground. ... On a slow Tuesday, remember that there’s always passionate singer Toni Price downstairs for happy hour and jazz horn phenom Ephraim Owens upstairs for the late show at the Continental Club.
