Blues is off the Green once again

By Peter Blackstock

It’s strike two for Shinyribs and Tameca Jones in their efforts to play KGSR’s “Blues on the Green” series at Zilker Park. Wet grounds forced the originally scheduled June 25 date to be postponed to July 16, and Tuesday’s rains have forced another postponement, this time to Aug. 13.

Weather problems also caused the season opener with Saints of Valory to be moved from May 28 to June 4. Today’s announcement does at least alleviate potential traffic-jam concerns from both Blues on the Green and the Long Center’s Sound & Cinema series falling on the same day, as the Long Center’s lawn event with “E.T.” and Henry & the Invisibles will go on as scheduled.

The Aug. 13 Shinyribs and Tameca Jones show will now be the closing concert of the Blues on the Green season, and will fall on the same night as a Sound & Cinema event with “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and the Golden Dawn Arkestra  at the Long Center.

Schedules for the two free series are at the KGSR and Long Center websites.
