The perennial springtime celebration of irie vibes, scheduled for April 18-20, 2014 will move south to Butler Park and the outdoor spaces around Palmer Auditorium this year to avoid the ongoing renovations at Auditorium Shores. The move means capacity for the festival will be reduced somewhat this year. The festival is also eliminating the popular “tent city” lounge area and the secondary dub stage to accommodate the smaller space.

Over the past several years the festival has enjoyed massive attendance on Saturday. This year festival organizers are hoping to offset crowds in the smaller space by spreading prime entertainment across all three days of the festival.

“We have booked some great talent for Friday and Sunday this year,” Austin Reggae Fest organizer Patrick Costigan said. The 2014 Austin Reggae Festival music lineup will be released on Feb. 1.

The Austin Reggae Festival is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Last year the festival raised $252,538 for the nonprofit organization.
