Fall Out Boy, Paramore bring joint tour to Austin360 Amphitheater this summer

11) Paramore - “Paramore”
Arnold Wells
Yeah, really. A funny thing happened to Warped Tour stalwarts Paramore after shedding a couple founding members and going through an awkward post-Hot Topic puberty: They grew up and became a really good rock band. “Paramore” is a monster-sized effort with splashes of pop-punk, post-rock, doo-wop and gospel. The band probably stepped onto the scene about 25 years too late. Hayley Williams is an in-charge frontwoman like Chrissy Hynde and Pat Benetar, and no one is really doing the kind of big-voiced pop strutting that she executes flawlessly. An anxiety over braving the big, bad world all alone permeates the album, a feeling that anyone who’s been in their twenties will recognize. Key tracks: “Ain’t It Fun,” “Fast In My Car”
