Kendrick Lamar rounds out the lineup for iTunes Festival
Kendrick Lamar commanded the massive sea of people gathered at the Honda stage for his Saturday set to raise their cell phone lights, then declared that thousands of points of lights represented everything that each individual is striving for, reminding us that it is possible to realize your dreams, just as he achieved his. --Deborah Sengupta Stith
Kendrick Lamar has been added to the bill for the iTunes festival at SXSW. Lamar will perform alongside fellow Black Hippy collective member Schoolboy Q and new Top Dawg Entertainment signee Isaiah Rashad. Lamar will play the festival on Wednesday, March 12. Previously announced artists include Coldplay, Soundgarden, Keith Urban and Pitbull.
Lamar had a fantastic 2013 that included a red hot SXSW streak, a killer ACL set and shameful, social media rage-inducing snubs of his excellent album "Good Kid/M.a.a.d. City" at the American Music Awards and the Grammys. Worth noting that with the addition of Kendrick Lamar the entire Black Hippy collective will be in town for SXSW 2014.
UPDATE: Also added to to the lineup, opening for Soundgarden on Thursday, March 13, are Band of Skulls and Capital Cities.
