Wednesday music picks: Faces/Small Faces hoot night, Sir Sly 



Faces/Small Faces hoot night at the Sahara Lounge. Resident rock ’n’ roll hall of famer Ian McLagan leads an outstanding bill of locals in a tribute to his British Invasion roots. The night also will feature songs from related bands and solo projects including the New Barbarians, Humble Pie and Rod Stewart. Vintage concert footage and documentaries will be screened in between sets. Joining McLagan are Idyll Green (formerly Hacienda), JoDee Purkeypile, Sally Crewe and Tameca Jones to name a few. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Alzheimer’s Association in Research. $8, $6 if you bring two friends. Also: L.A. indie pop band Sir Sly, best known for the single “Gold” which has been featured in video games, play the Parish. … Local orchestral pop outfit Mother Falcon gets plush treatment with a Long Center show. … Many of the original band members from both groups including Peter Cetera who left Chicago in the mid-’80s are missing, but Chicago and REO Speedwagon will soft rock your socks off at the Cedar Park Center. … Jamie XX, British producer, remix artist and one third of the group The XX plays the Mohawk. … It’s an evening of quiet, lyrical pop at Stubb’s with locals Jack Wilson and Dana Falconberry.
