Dublin Harmo-Indie pop band Little Green Cars took a little bit to get warmed up — and it sure didn’t help that Portugal. The Muck was bleeding in from the AMD stage — but when they hit their stride with “Harper Lee” and the brand new song “Mom & Dad” it was heavenly.
It would be easy to say that singer Faye O’Rourke, who looks like the Irish Sarah Silverman, would have a better career as a solo artist. Her voice is pristine and powerful, but this group had great chemistry onstage. And when they went into five-part harmonies, as on the opening number “Red,” the moments froze.
The last two songs of the 50-minute set knocked it into the stratosphere. “My Love Took Me To the River To Silence Me,” starts off with O’Rourke a capella, then kicks into overdrive. The knockout punch, however, was “The John Wayne,” another one that slowly builds into a frenzy.
A well-placed cover was the only thing lacking. This is a band to keep an ear on.
