Matthew Odam is the restaurant critic and reporter at the Austin American-Statesman, where he also covers the local film scene and writes film criticism. The Austin native and seventh-generation Texas has worked for the Statesman since 2007.


Before coming to the Statesman, Odam co-edited Austinist.com, worked at an advertising agency and led tours of the Roman Forum, among other things. When not working, he can be found enjoying many of the things that make Austin great: Barton Springs pool, music concerts, Lady Bird Lake, the Alamo Drafthouse and Violet Crown Cinema, area golf courses and the nearby Hill Country.
