| Austin's Top Ten Restaurants No. 7: Hudson's On The Bend When it comes to meat, no one in Central Texas beats Hudson's on the Bend. Take the luscious beef tenderloin. It is so tender and flavorful that it virtually defies description. The meat is topped with a beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp that offers a seductively light counterpoint to the heavier beef. Garnished with fresh flowers, they are served with a poblano-horseradish sauce, mashed potatoes and sautéed mixed vegetables. The dish shows how high proprietor-chef Jeff Blank and executive chef Becky Barsch Fischer can take Hudson's. Unfortunately, a terrible table on the plastic-enclosed front porch can pull it down, knocking the restaurant out of the No. 1 spot it had held for the past two years. That should be changing, though. Blank is enclosing the room and rearranging the seating, which should give diners there the same experience as those in the main dining rooms. | |||
