Stagecoach Inn. Recipes from the 1940s in historic setting. 401 S. Stagecoach Road, Salado; (254) 947-5111.
Texadelphia. Local sandwich chain famous for its "cheesesteak." 5510 S. Interstate 35, Building E, Suite 410; 804-0804. Several other Austin locations.
Texicalli Grille. A South Austin classic with great salads and sandwiches. 534 E. Oltorf St., 442-2799.

Din Ho Chinese Bar-B-Q. Extensive offerings, including crispy whole tilapia. 8557 Research Blvd., No. 116; 832-8788.
Hao Hao. Vietnamese-Chinese place with an enticing Vietnamese menu. 1901 W. William Cannon Dr., 447-8121.
Korea Garden. Zesty cuisine and warm hospitality that attracts Korean business leaders. 6519 N. Lamar Blvd., 302-3149.
Madame Mam's Noodles and More. Bringing good -- and at times extremely spicy -- Thai to The Drag. 2514 Guadalupe St., 472-8306.
Noodle-ism. Unique noodle dishes, including a wonderful won ton soup, offered by the chef-owner of four-star Bistro 88. 107 W. Fifth St., 275-9988.
Pao's Mandarin House. Two menus at this Lakeway spot: the regular and the Chinese, which you should ask for. 2300 Lohmans Crossing Road; 263-8869.
Pho Hoang. Pho (a Vietnamese soup with beef and noodles) with an alluring aroma full of spice. 2521 Rutland Drive, Suite 400; 339-6002.
Seoul Restaurant & Sushi Bar. Delicious sushi, Korean and Japanese fare, including wonderful tempura. 6400 S. First St.; 326-5807.
Tam Deli & Cafe. Tiny Vietnamese deli where cuisines of China, Cambodia and France merge. 8222 N. Lamar Blvd.; 834-6458.
T&S Chinese Seafood Restaurant. A favorite late-night spot of local chefs who adore the salt-and-pepper shrimp. 10014 N. Lamar Blvd.; 339-8434.
The Tea House. More than 200 dishes at this Chinese-Vietnamese spot. 13376 Research Blvd., Suite 100; 335-0935.
Thai Spice. Flavorful stir-fries at the Village at Westlake. 701 S. Capital of Texas Highway; 330-0203.

Cisco's. Breakfast and lunch at a Tex-Mex spot long popular with the state's power brokers. 1511 E. Sixth St.; 478-2420.
Guero's. Bill Clinton's Tex-Mex restaurant of choice when visiting Austin. 1412 S. Congress Ave.; 447-7688.
Eastside Cafe. Eclectic menu in old home with extensive garden. 2113 Manor Road; 476-5858.
Hyde Park Bar & Grill. Best french fries in town to accompany a wide range of items. 4206 Duval St.; 458-3168.
Iron Works. Historic barbecue joint with porch seating overlooking Waller Creek. 100 Red River St.; 478-4855.
Kerbey Lane Cafe. 24-hour dining offers great pancakes, especially the fresh-fruit selection. 3704 Kerbey Lane; 451-1436.
Matt's El Rancho. Longtime favored spot of University of Texas alums for Tex-Mex. 2613 S. Lamar Blvd.; 462-9333.
Threadgill's. Southern-style with incredible veggie selection. 6416 N. Lamar Blvd.; 451-4550.
Trudy's. Local Tex-Mex chain that also serves good chicken fried steak. 409 W. 30th St.; 477-2935.
