| Dining by design Thistle Cafe on Sixth By Jeanne Claire van Ryzin Austin American-Statesman November 6, 2003 Urban and elegant. Giles Design of San Antonio took a voluminous space on the first floor of the Carr America building and turned it into a dramatic and intimate eatery. Scrims of sheer white fabric printed with delicate thistle designs in warm, organic hues cleverly and elegantly divide the main dining room and also make great use of the tall ceiling and large, south-facing windows. Slate floors in the bar and high-traffic zones contrast with carpeting in the main dining area. Better still is the small, dark lounge off the bar, with its pair of long, knee-high tables surrounded by mod-upholstered slipper chairs. Anybody would look great posing here. | ||

At the Thistle Cafe, scrims of sheer fabric elegantly divide the dining room while accentuating the high ceiling. Thistle Cafe on Sixth Street 300 W. Sixth Street, Suite 103 Austin, TX 78701 512-275-9777 | ||
