In 2004 I was 245 pounds and had discovered some tumors on my stomach and lower back. Although the tumors were benign, the health scare was a wake-up call. I decided to change my life once and for all. I realized I needed to take care of myself before I could take care of anyone else. I lost 62 pounds and dropped my waist size from 42 to 31 inches. It has become just as rewarding now to help others with their goals. I eat locally grown fresh vegetables and fruit as well as grass-fed beef, eggs and poultry. I love the farmers markets all around town. I don't eat any dairy, wheat, gluten or processed foods. My eating is low in carbohydrates, mostly from vegetables, and high in protein, with lots of healthy fats. I do cardio four times a week biking, walking and high-intensity interval training. I also do resistance training three to four days a week, with lots of body weight work and compound movements. And I take walks with my wife, Dara, kids and dogs. I believe it is never to late to become what you might have been.
