From here until a kickoff that is, as of this writing, still several months away, there will be debate.

Oh boy, will there be debate.

Who to start? What offense to employ? What defensive strategies to use? What to do if somebody gets hurt?

Forget all that. We have the answers.

Thanks to the miracle of technology, we will know exactly how the 2003 football season will play out.

Well, perhaps not exactly, but we'll have a pretty good idea.

With a popular video game and an even more popular game console, I will play out the UT schedule with the Longhorns' actual players, strategies and -- at least as far as EA Sports is concerned -- playbook.

What qualifies me? Experience, that's what. Over the last decade or so, I've led teams to four national championships (Three with Ohio State and one with previously unheralded Akron.) Not enough? In the NFL, I've led the Green Bay Packers to four Super Bowl victories, the Cleveland Browns to two and the Austin Squirrels -- a team I remind you doesn't even exist as of yet -- to one. (I've also won three NBA titles and seven or eight Stanley Cups, but that's another story altogether.)

Once a week, we'll reveal the strategies, the tactics, the big plays and ... most importantly ... the outcome of each of UT's games.

We recommend going over our methodology, which also includes details about the off-season and Spring Practice, before plunging on to the first game.

With apologies to all involved ...

First up: New Mexico State.
