'NFL Street 2' runs up the middle for no gain Like a football season where your favorite team does a little roster reshuffling, but makes no real progress (and misses out on the playoffs), "NFL Street 2," the new football game from Electronic Arts' "EA Big" label, is going to try the patience of a lot of gamers.
NFL Street 2
Platform(s): PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube Company: EA Sports Type/Genre: Sports Rating: E (Everyone)
Though it does some things right — a new move that allows you to use sideline walls to pass, catch and leap from, and expanded Create-a-Player features — "NFL Street 2" is almost the same game as last year's "NFL Street." It doesn't do much to deepen the gameplay or set itself apart from its predecessor the way the company's "Madden" series does, giving gamers concrete reasons to dish out another $50 each year.
Graphics are great and online play is smooth (though unavailable for the GameCube version) but those who know just how many other great and original games are available this holiday season should stick with renting this one. Or pick up last year's "Street" in the bargain bin. You'll barely be able to tell the difference.
