This year, Travis County voters are allowed to vote on Election Day at any polling location in Travis County.

With an involved ballot leading to long lines at some polling locations, Austinites waiting until after work to vote today might want to consider one of the following polling places, which have reported lighter lines, according to Travis County elections officials:

The Ben Hur Shrine at 7811 Rockwood Lane in North Austin; Highland Mall at 6001 Airport Boulevard, also in North Austin; and the Lamar Plaza, in the 1100 block of South Lamar Boulevard (by the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar) have all enjoyed relatively short lines.

The University of Texas Co-op at 2246 Guadalupe, on the drag by UT, has also had shortish lines, in large part because another nearby voting place on the UT campus appears to have pulled voters away, officials said. In Round Rock, the Performance Arts Center at 5800 McNeil Road has also had shorter queues.

Officials recommend avoiding grocery stores, which have reported long lines.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Voters who get in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote even if they have to wait past 7 p.m. to cast their ballots, Travis County elections officials said.
