We know the traffic in Austin and its surrounding areas is unfailingly atrocious (cough cough, Interstate 35), and we all know we don’t need anymore cars plaguing the city streets. But in the case of one vehicle, and just this one, we can make a huge exception.
At 27 feet long, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is taking over the roads today through Monday. Stops will be made in Cedar Park, Pflugerville and Austin Thursday, Friday and Saturday at select H-E-B stores, where the public is invited to hang out with Hotdoggers (Wienermobile drivers and spokespeople) and the famous giant hot dog. Cedar Park locations are slated for the H-E-Bs on 2800 E. Whitestone and 170 E. Whitestone in Cedar Park on Thursday.
The Wienermobile is enough of a phenomenon itself to entice visitors and bystanders, but Hotdogger Sofia Cacho said other frankfurter-inspired activities will take place.
“At our events, people usually take pictures with our hot dog cut-outs in front of the Wienermobile and play some corn hole afterwards, where they can win a special prize,” Cacho said. “ We will be handing out our famous Wiener Whistles as well as stickers and coupons.”

For those bologna-obsessed, Oscar Mayer announced earlier this month it’s currently on the search for new Wienermobile drivers. The job entails Hotdoggers to cruise around the state for a year for “franktastic” adventures.
Be on the look out for the mammoth-sized hot dog (you can’t miss it). If you spot it, send us a photo on Williamson County News Now.
