A rush of upcoming musical releases includes Carly Rae Jepsen's debut album, 'Kiss.'

Fall in books, DVDs and music is just like fall in TV and movies: The big guns are coming out.

Carly Rae Jepsen, of "Call Me Maybe" fame, releases her debut album, "Kiss," and her collaborators are a murderers' row of teen pop maximalism: Max Martin, Dallas Austin and LMFAO's Redfoo to name a few.

The somewhat problematic rapper Kreayshawn's "Somethin 'Bout Kreay" is due today, as is Pink's "The Truth About Love."

Speaking of people we thought were done, the Killers, who are apparently still a thing, release "Battle Born" today. Producers include Daniel Lanois and Steven Lillywhite, so perhaps they've made a U2 record for a year with no U2 record (see also: Coldplay, Kings of Leon).

Band of Horses continue their New Mellow Rock Thing with "Mirage Rock" (man, that title seems awfully close to yacht rock). Dinosaur Jr.'s excellent "I Bet On Sky," their third album since their reunion, hits stores today, as does "The Sound of the Life of the Mind," the first Ben Folds Five album in 13 years, and Aimee Mann's "Charmer," her first album in four years.

Grizzly Bear's "Shields" is out today, along with the Corin Tucker Band's second album, "Kill My Blues."

On the country and blues tip, look for Big & Rich's "Hillbilly Jedi," the awesome Ryan Bingham's "Tomorrowland," Carolyn Mark's "The Queen of Vancouver Island," and last but not least, Dwight Yoakam's "3 Pears," his first album of originals in seven years. It is produced by Beck. No, really.

DVD of the week — no question — is "Steve Martin: The Television Stuff," a three-disc brick that collects his specials "On Location: Steve Martin," "Steve Martin: A Wild and Crazy Guy," "Steve Martin: Comedy Is Not Pretty," "All Commercials — A Steve Martin Special" and "Steve Martin's Best Show Ever," plus a 1979 gig at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Awesome.

Also look for DVDs and Blu-rays of Joss Whedon's horror flick "The Cabin in the Woods," the Disney picture "The Great Mouse Detective," and a set called "Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures," one of which is actually good (you know I'm right.)

It's a good week for music books. "Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir," written by Lauper and Jancee Dunn, is out today, as is "Will Oldham on Bonnie ‘Prince' Billy" and Ann & Nancy Wilson's (with Charles R. Cross) "Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock and Roll."

Also look for Sandra Brown's new thriller, "Low Pressure"; Ken Follett's "Winter of the World: Book Two of the Century Trilogy"; and "Seward: Lincoln's Indispensable Man," Walter Stahr's biography of William Henry Seward, Abraham Lincoln's secretary of state.
