The ‘I love you so much’ wall at Jo’s Coffee on South Congress has become, in a relatively short amount of time, an iconic spot in Austin. We used it for a 2011 photo shoot with jewelry designer and boutique owner Kendra Scott.

Musician Amy Cook didn’t know she was creating an iconic Austin spot when she sprayed a message of love and support to her girlfriend, Liz Lambert, who was having a bad day.

Since that day in July 2010, affection for the sign — and its popularity as a photo spot — has grown pretty rapidly. Many an engaged couple has immortalized their relationship next to the red script, but it’s not only a site for romantic love. Parents and children (including adult kids), best friends, and people and their favorite four—legged companions have all stopped by Jo’s Hot Coffee on South Congress Avenue to snap a shot or three. And some folks use it to show their love of Austin, a town that still celebrates the weird, off-beat and just plain sweet.

The wall has survived at least two bouts of vandalism by a few mean people who apparently don’t have someone spraying messages of love to them. (Lambert owns Jo’s; we don’t recommend spray-painting just any old wall.)

So why the warm and fuzzy history lesson? We want to show off your photos from the spot as part of our Valentine’s Day plans. We’ll feature them in an “I Love You So Much” photo gallery and print some in the newspaper.

Send us your picture, and include some backstory if you’d like, including who’s in the photo (first and last names), what the relationship is and why you decided to go to the wall for a photo.

You can get them to us in one of two ways: email the photos to mypix@statesman.com (put “I Love You So Much” in the subject line) or go to share.statesman.com and upload them.

Looking for our cutest couple contest? Details for entering that here. Yes, you can submit your pic to both galleries.
