Fantastic Fest continues Saturday at the Alamo South with the premiere of the Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lungren action flick "Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning 3D." But several smaller films are getting the biggest critical buzz.

In "Berberian Sound Studio," Toby Jones plays a mild-manned audio technician who usually works on nature documentaries. But an Italian production company hires him, then unexpectedly asks him to work on an ultra-violent film called "The Equestrian Vortex." Fantastic Fest describes "Berberian" as a bizarre atmospheric thriller, with Jones' character being thrust into a world where horror and reality are fused. "Berberian" screens at 3 p.m.

At 9 p.m., "The ABC's of Death" will bring 26 directors together, giving us 26 ways to die. The Drafthouse Films project gives one letter and one method of death to each of the filmmakers. The directors, of course, have creative control and end up focusing on mass murders, dismemberment, animal abuse and more.

And at 9:15 p.m., the 1971 film "Wake in Fright" makes its long-awaited return to the big screen. It's an Outback horror film that was thought to be lost, but arrives in a new 35 mm print from the National Film and Sound Archives of Australia.

Gary Bond plays schoolteacher John Grant, who leaves the Outback for a vacation in Sydney. But a stop in a small town along the way turns out to be a big mistake.

Most of the bigger screenings have already sold out. But some individual tickets might be available, especially for screenings before 5 p.m.
