UPCOMING FOOD & WINE EVENTS

• Rodeo Austin, the two-week fair and rodeo out at the Travis County Expo Center, doesn’t officially start until March 8, but two events this week will kick off the fun. The rodeo’s annual cowboy breakfast starts at 6 a.m. Friday at Auditorium Shores, followed by the BBQ Auction and Dance at 6 p.m. Saturday at Austin Music Hall. The Friday event lasts until 9 a.m. and is free and open to the public. The Saturday event will feature Asleep at the Wheel and a barbecue dinner, and tickets cost $35 (or $500 a table) at RodeoAustin.com.

• AIDS Services of Austin is hosting its 20th annual Viva Las Vegas fundraiser for the nonprofit’s legal services program at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Shoal Crossing Event Center, 8611 N. MoPac (Loop 1). Bands including The Copa Kings, Coty Ross, Mouthfeel and Agustin Tash will perform, and food from local restaurants will be served.
