Open: The Egg & I, the second Austin location of the Colorado-based restaurant chain specializing in breakfast and lunch, at 14005 U.S. 183 North in the Super Target Shopping Center. Closed: Braise, Parind Vora’s bistro on East Sixth Street. Vora’s Restaurant Jezebel is set to reopen on Oct. 31 in the Cirrus Logic building, 800 W. Sixth St.

Closed, for now: Flying Falafel and Po Boys, the Mediterranean restaurant at 2001 Guadalupe St. According to the restaurant’s website, flyingfalafelaustin.com, their lease expired but they hope to relocate soon.

Chef change: Pastry chef Lindsay O’Rourke has joined the team at Noble Pig Sandwiches, 11815 RM 620 North. Most recently, O’Rourke, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, was in charge of the pastries at Huisache Grill and Wine Bar in New Braunfels.

Max’s Wine Dive, 207 San Jacinto Blvd., is hosting the third annual Austin Cellar Classic on Friday and Saturday benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Austin Food & Wine Alliance. On Friday Max’s chef Erica Beneke will prepare a five-course Reserve Dinner ($125, $225 a couple), followed by a grand tasting ($45, $100 for VIP) from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday during which guests can sample wines from around the world.
