Open: Epicerie Cafe & Grocery, a hybrid market and eatery at 2307 Hancock Drive that had previously been in the news because of an effort by neighbors to block the opening. The restaurant/market from chef/owner Sarah McIntosh, a former sous chef at Olivia, is housed in a 1930s bungalow and features a “French-Louisiana inspired menu,” as well as a coffee bar, housemade charcuterie, locally made breads and a selection of gourmet products and goods, such as cured meats, honey, jams, chocolates and Rancho Gordo heirloom beans. Opening soon: Michi Ramen, the brick-and-mortar location at 6519 North Lamar Blvd. of the popular food truck that specializes in traditional Japanese ramen.
