Opening Saturday: John Mueller Meat Co., the newest trailer from famed pitman John Mueller, who most recently was serving his signature smoked meats from a trailer on South First Street. After splitting ways from his sister, who now runs LA Barbecue at that location with John Lewis in charge of the pits, Mueller is putting down roots at 2500 E. Sixth St., at the corner of East Sixth and Pedernales next to the longtime beer joint Kellee’s Place. Starting this weekend, he’ll be serving his tried-and-true ‘cue and sides, including potato salad, a new honey mustard cole slaw and Mueller’s cheesy baked squash that you won’t find anywhere else. Also new is a jalapeño boudin, but all the other meats are Mueller signatures: beef short ribs, brisket, sausage, pork ribs, pork shoulder, turkey and, on Fridays and Saturdays, prime rib. Opening Thursday: Blackfinn Ameripub at the Domain, 11410 Century Oaks Terrace, the first Austin location of the casual restaurant chain that also has locations in places including St. Louis, Houston and Jacksonville, Fla. The menu features a variety of “craveable American foods” including burgers, pastas, flatbreads and entrees such as bacon-wrapped meatloaf and ahi tuna stir fry, as well as cocktails, wines and more than 100 beers.
