Comics for veterans, veteran comics and, yes, two more festivals highlight November’s jam-packed comedy lineup. Let’s get to it:

Comics for Courage

Nov. 9-10

On Veterans Day weekend, Comics for Courage brings past winners of the Funniest Person in Austin contest to the Cap City stage, where they’ll raise the roof, along with some money, for the Wounded Warrior Project and Vet Dogs. Performers include Howard Beecher, Ramin Nazer, Bryan Gutman and Matt Sadler.

Cap City owner Rich Miller believed the cause was worthy of a prime weekend slot, according to Comics for Courage executive director Christopher Cannon — himself a FPIA alumnus (he took the title in 1995, the same year he founded the organization).

“I did the road thing for 20 years and decided I needed to do something different, something that satisfies both my love of the stage and my devotion for my fellow military veterans,” Cannon says. “I just feel these folks need help. There is more to this comedy scene than getting on Letterman or a series — working for something larger than the limelight.”

Comics for Courage visits high schools and educates students on issues affecting veterans — particularly those who have been wounded — through comedy and improvisation. Fun Fun Fun Fest

Nov. 2-4

David Cross, “The Daily Show’s” Wyatt Cenac and Hannibal Buress highlight a roster of more than 35 comedians, comedy troupes and events on the FFF Fest’s yellow stage. Sketch comedy, magicians, eating contests, a Weird Al tribute band and even championship wrestling join national headliners and local stand-ups for your entertainment pleasure … at least until your daddy takes your T-Bird away. WaffleFest

Nov. 8-10

Mmmmm … comedy and waffles. More than 25 of Austin’s best improv troupes, including Available Cupholders and Your Dad’s Friends, converge on The Hideout to gorge on laughter from audiences gorging on waffles, butter, whipped cream, strawberries, syrup, chocolate sauce and Nutella. The Amazing Acro-Cats

Nov. 12-16

Are you a cat person? Good. We can get you all in one place then lock the door! That place would be the Blue Theatre, where house cats will ride skateboards, jump through hoops, ring bells and roll barrels for your viewing pleasure. Want to see a cat play the guitar? The show features the all-cat combo The Rock-Cats, managed by trainer Samantha Martin. Dave Foley

What’s this all aboot? Former “The Kids in the Hall” and “Newsradio” star Foley brings his distinctly skewed and Canadian (is that redundant?) sense of humor to Austin for two shows. Rich Little

Nov. 16

The 73-year-old mimic can still knock out mean Ronald Reagan and Cary Grant impersonation. Those American icons and others join the one-man cast of “Jimmy Stewart & Friends,” Little’s tribute to the cinematic icon and childhood idol who later became a close friend. Bill O’Reilly and Dennis Miller

OK, Bill O’Reilly is not technically a comedian, although he hails from Scranton, Pa., setting of NBC’s “The Office.” Does that count? Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Miller joins him for an evening of what — conservative comedy? My Heart is an Idiot

Found Magazine has collected and published stumbled-upon love letters, grocery lists, napkin-scrawled poetry and other random ephemera for a decade.
