SXSW Interactive updates
On Tuesday, South by Southwest Interactive unveiled its last scheduled keynote speaker for the 2014 festival: Chelsea Clinton.
Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, will speak at 2 p.m. March 11 at the Austin Convention Center. Clinton grew up in the public eye as the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and is expected to speak about the Clinton Foundation’s health programs and Millennium Network. She has also worked as a correspondent for NBC News.
Clinton is the last scheduled keynote speaker for the festival. Previously announced were astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, “Mythbusters” host Adam Savage, 23andMe CEO Anne Wojcicki and author Austin Kleon.
Clinton’s appearance lines up with one of Interactive’s themes this year: social good. It also bolsters an increasingly packed schedule of well-known festival participants including actress and writer Mindy Kaling, sportscaster Bill Simmons, stats wizard Nate Silver, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, FEED founder Lauren Bush Lauren, actress Rosario Dawson and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
Interactive will also play host to tapings for “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” for Bravo TV, auditions for “Shark Tank,” “Late Night With Seth Meyers” and “The Pete Holmes Show” for TBS.
SXSW Interactive runs March 7-11. The 2013 festival drew 30,621 attendees for Interactive, including SXSW attendees with gold and platinum badges who had access to that part of the fest.
