“The Attic Space.” Call it planned obsolescence. When Palindrome theatre started three years ago, the small collective promised it would expire in December 2012. Seven productions later it’s doing just that with the premiere of “The Attic Space” by company playwright Nigel O’Hearn. “New Works: Michael Menchaca.” Up-and-coming San Antonio artist Michael Menchaca re-figures the contemporary events and politics of the U.S.-Mexico border with an original cast of cartoon characters. In his colorful, highly symbolic and seemingly playful work, Menchaca recast the tough stories of drug smuggling, migrant immigration and human trafficking. Menchaca cleverly combines pre-Columbian visual storytelling with Pop Art style to understand cultural conflicts and misunderstandings. Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays through Feb. 17.
