Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress.” Modernist genius composer Igor Stravinsky based an opera on the eight print series “A Rake’s Progress” by artist William Hogarth, who satirized the politically and socially corrupt milieu of 18th-century London. Stravinsky engaged poets W.H. Auden and Chester Kallman to write the libretto and the opera, “The Rake’s Progress,” debuted in 1951.

Hogarth’s prints are on exhibit at the Blanton Museum of Art. And in tandem with the exhibit, the museum is screening the 2007 production of Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress” by Brussels’ La Monnaie–De Munt opera. The edgy production by Robert Lepage re-imagines the neo-classical morality tale as taking place in sin city 1950s Las Vegas with glittering neon-filled streets and lonely desert landscapes.

1 p.m. Saturday Blanton Museum of Art auditorium, 200 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Free with museum admission ($5-$9). 471-7324, www.blantonmuseum.org.

Saturday and Sunday

“Herd the Third: More Concerti by Bach for Multiple Harpsichords.” La Follia Austin Baroque presents the third iteration of its wildly popular annual concert that feature Bach’s concertos for multiple harpsichords. Concertos for multiple harpsichords are rare, and it’s surprising that Bach wrote so many of them. Though harpsichords waned in popularity after around 1800, the instrument emerged with renewed interest in the last half century. Featured harpsichordists are Asako Hirabayashi, Keith Womer (director of La Follia), JiMin Kim and Jeffrey Jones-Ragona. The harpsichords are backed by the La Follia Austin Baroque string ensemble. 8 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. First Presbyterian Church, 8001 Mesa Dr. $10-$20.879-6404, www. lafollia.org.
