“Unsilent Night.” It’s a singular participatory, promenading concert. Or maybe its a moving sound sculpture. Actually it’s both. Once again, new music purveyors Fast Forward Austin will stage Phil Kline’s “Unsilent Night,” a piece written specifically for outdoor performance in December. Anyone who’d like to participate will get one of of four music tracks in the form of a cassette, CD, or Mp3. Together all four tracks comprise Kline’s “Unsilent Night.” With boom boxes or anything that amplifies music, participants parade through the downtown streets as all four tracks are simultaneously played. This year, the free event starts at the historic Buford Tower, the 1931 brick clock/bell tower on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake. 8 p.m. Friday. Buford Tower, 201 W. Cesar Chavez St. Free. “Billy Elliott.” The Tony Award-winning musical comes to Austin for the first time. Set in a Northern England industrial town that’s seen better days, the story charts the story of motherless 11-year-old Billy, an aspiring dancer who has to persuade his coal miner father — as well as others — that ballet is an acceptable path to pursue.
