Here’s to you, hipsters.

Scoot Inn, a popular East Austin music venue at 1308 E. Fourth St., will reopen soon under new ownership.

Scoot Inn, which closed its doors two weeks ago, will be taken over Friday by Austin-based ATX Brands, founder and CEO Doug Guller told the American-Statesman.

After some repairs, Scoot Inn should be back in business by early November – in time for Austin’s upcoming Formula One race, Guller said.

“We’re excited because we get to keep a long-running institution going,” he said. “The changes will be very subtle. We’re just going to clean it up a little bit to make sure everyone’s experience is a pleasant one.”

There will be at least one noticeable difference, though. Guller said he plans to move his Zorro food trailer from downtown Austin’s Pelons restaurant, which ATX Brands also operates, to the Scoot Inn, giving concert-goers an option for on-site dining.

Over the next month, the ATX Brands team will focus on booking music acts from a variety of genres, according to Guller, with a goal of bringing patrons “a good, consistent stream of quality bands, inside and outside.”

“We really want to focus on delivering an awesome live music lineup out there,” he said, “and we can’t do that overnight.”

Scoot Inn will be ATX Brands’ first East Austin venue, Guller said. The company’s other downtown-area bars and restaurants are all west of Interstate 35.

“I’m really excited to be a part of East Austin,” he said. “East Austin has been growing so fast and I think Scoot Inn really complements what we have going on over on the other side of the highway.”

East Austin was ranked No. 7 this month on Forbes magazine’s list of the nation’s hottest hipster neighborhoods. That, of course, is the same publication that this year rated Houston as the “coolest” U.S. city. Austin finished in 11th place.

“East Austin has unseated South Congress and Travis Heights as Austin’s newest hipster home base,” the magazine wrote. “It not only touts some of the most highly rated Mexican eateries in the country but also coffee shops, a farmers market, and food trucks like the East Side King parked outside of bars and music venues every night.”
