Local, global acts fill out ACL

Lead spots go to Van Morrison, Gnarls Barkley, Tom Petty, Ben Harper and Willie.

Though there isn't a Coldplay-size headliner at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival, the three-day bash will please fans of Austin music and international singers. The 120-plus band lineup was released Wednesday evening.

In addition to previously leaked acts, fans can also look forward to plenty of Austin acts such as Los Lonely Boys, Ian McLagan, Del Castillo, Explosions in the Sky and Centro-matic.

"It's an Austin festival," booker Charles Attal said Wednesday. "It's one of the greatest music markets in the world. We have to show the rest of the country what we have down here."

Smaller acts include Scottish singer Paolo Nutini, France's Pierre Guimard and legendary Zimbabwe bandleader Oliver Mtukudzi.

British superstars Coldplay headlined last year's festival, and some fans were hoping for such a big name this year.

"Coldplay was a blessing and a curse," Attal said. "The tour routing happened to be right, and they were biggest band in the world at the time. For us, it's not about the headliner; it's about the guts of the lineup."

Fans can see those guts Sept. 15 to 17 in Zilker Park. Tickets are $115 plus service and delivery charges.
