Line up for SXSW wristbands
First batch on sale starting today

The first wave of wristbands for 2006 South by Southwest Music Festival sold out at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday night, some seven-and-a-half hours after they went on sale at Waterloo Records.
Access to the first 600 wristbands went to subscribers to the SXSW text message list. Subscribers got the message at 6:59 p.m. Feb. 22, and had to present their copy of the message to the Waterloo clerk.
Those wristbands, priced at $130, were gone inside of an hour.
The rest of the first 2,000 went on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, also at $130, and were snatched up in 90 minutes. The next 2,000, priced at $150, were gone by rush hour. The wristbands were only be sold on a walk-up basis at Waterloo, and could not be purchased by phone or on the Internet. South by Southwest officials will determine whether additional wristbands will go on sale March 9. The festival runs March 15-19. The wristband also allows entrance into the Austin Music Awards at the Austin Music Hall on March 15. For more information, visit 2006.sxsw.com.
