Texas Radio Hall of Fame Inductees
Wednesday, August 17, 2005
Comedian George Carlin, whose "seven dirty words you can’t say on the radio" constituted the Federal Communications Commission's worst pre-Howard Stern nightmare, and "60 Minutes" and former White House press corps pit bull Sam Donaldson are among the Texas radio personalities who will be inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame at a ceremony Nov. 5 in Dallas. Also in the "class of 2005" is Austinite Ann Arnold, executive director of the Texas Association of Broadcasters and the first woman to serve a Texas governor (Mark White) as press secretary. Carlin was a jock at KXOL in Fort Worth in the late '50s; Donaldson began his career in El Paso. Others among the 12 broadcasters slated for induction are former Dallas Mayor and radio news reporter Wes Wise and longtime Houston Astros play-by-play announcer Milo Hamilton.
