Austin City Limits Festival 2003 - Transportation and Parking
Information courtesy Capital MetroCapital Metro will provide free shuttle services between downtown Austin and the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Zilker Park from Friday Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept. 21. Capital Metro, a major supporter of the ACL Festival for the second year in a row, has dedicated 60 buses to transport an expected 100,000 people over the course of the weekend.
Festival-goers can park downtown or ride a Capital Metro route to the shuttle pickup point at Trinity between 12th and 14th Streets, near Waterloo Park. Shuttle service will begin at 10:30 each morning and continue throughout the day delivering patrons directly to the front entrance of the festival; the last bus will leave Zilker Park at 10:30 p.m.
Parking at the Festival
Parking is not provided at the Festival; however, a range of parking is available throughout downtown. Patrons also have the option of parking outside of downtown and taking a Capital Metro bus or 'Dillo route to the shuttle boarding site Trinity between 12th and 14th Streets. A Festival shuttle and parking map is currently available at www.capmetro.org.
Expanded 'Dillo Service
Capital Metro's new Starlight 'Dillo has extended hours for the Festival, since it conveniently passes the shuttle loading site on Trinity Street. The route will operate throughout the day on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Normally, the Starlight 'Dillo runs Thursday through Saturday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.) The Starlight 'Dillo will be ideal for people who park throughout downtown, but will also provide downtown hotel guests and other downtown patrons with easy transportation to the shuttle boarding site. The Starlight 'Dillo is a north-south route that travels along Congress, Brazos, San Jacinto and Trinity, from 15th Street south to Barton Springs Road.
Increased Shuttle Capacity
Capital Metro has increased number of buses running the shuttle service this year by thirty percent in order to transport more people to and from the event quickly and safely. ACL Festival officials anticipate approximately 60,000 patrons each day for this year's festival.
