'Cars' gets stuck in neutral

Right in the middle of the Disney-Pixar film "Cars," race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) receives a life lesson from love interest Sally (Bonnie Hunt). Sally, besides being a totally sweet Porsche, is the biggest cheerleader for urban renewal in Radiator Springs, the sleepy desert town on Route 66 where Lightning has been waylaid while on the way out to California for a big race. You can tell Lightning likes her because he listens politely while she talks about how the interstate killed her town instead of restlessly gunning his engine. Read the full review

TO SUM UP
On route across the country to compete in the big Piston Cup Championship, a hotshot rookie race car named Lightning McQueen finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. As he gets to know the town's offbeat characters, he discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line.

READ THE REVIEW

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: C-
"Visually, Cars is a wonder, a whirl of color, clever perspectives and waterfalls that take your breath away. But at almost 2 hours, the movie, well, exhausts its welcome..."

Austin American-Statesman: 2 of 5 stars
"... slightly more entertaining than a traffic jam."

The Palm Beach Post: B
"... could be more streamlined, and, at times, it really helps if you are steeped in NASCAR culture, but even with its drawbacks, Pixar still rules the animated feature roost."
