It’s not quite summer, but considering this is Austin and the city just experienced its warmest March ever, swimming season officially kicks off whenever you decide to bust out the beach towels.

Austin boasts 51 public pool facilities where you can cool off this summer, but keeping track of their different hours and locations can be a lot.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has a useful “Parks Viewer” map that can help you locate different public pools around the city and check their schedules.

According to a news release, the “pools open and close according to a balanced, staggered schedule.” Three pools -- Govalle, Shipe, and Givens -- will be closed for the 2017 season. Shipe and Govalle will be completely redone, and construction is set to start this year. Givens has undergone several assessments after it was found to be leaking 50,000 gallons of water a day and will be closed this summer to make necessary repairs.

If you’re looking to an alternative to one of Austin’s more popular pools, check out our list of lesser-known spots.
