Twisted X Brewing Co. has settled into their new brewery in Dripping Springs and began brewing last week.
The new facilities are a far leap from the original storage facility in Cedar Park. The new 10,000 square foot building has increased their production from 3 bbls to 30 bbls, and when the new set of tanks arrive next Spring, they’ll be capable of producing 58 bbls.
Owner Shane Bordeau explained that while the brand new system will make lots of beer, they kept the smaller 3 bbl pilot system from the original brewery to make small batch and experimental brews to be sold in the tap toom. The new taproom, which was still under construction when I visited, will eventually house 12 taps of beer that will be sold by the glass.
The facilities also include a new bottling line. 12 oz. bottles of their four flagship brews (Twisted X Premium Lager, Cow Creek Lager, Chupahopra IPA and Fuego Jalapeno Pilsner) will start to be bottled in early December. The bottling line is also capable of bottling special 22 oz. bombers, which they will use for the Senor Viejo Imperial Black Lager aged in Tequila barrels.
The first batch of beer was brewed last week, so it will be about a month until it starts to show up at bars and restaurants. In the meantime, you can buy tickets to their Grand Re-Opening party, which takes place from 11 to 5 p.m. November 23rd. There will be beer samples, live music, food and more at the event. Bordeau says they were only allotted 1500 tickets though, which go on sale at noon today, so grab them while they are still available. Tickets are $25 and can be bought here: http://www.texmexbeer.com/grandopening.html.
