• Open: Maoz Vegetarian, the first Austin location of the international restaurant chain based in Amsterdam. The restaurant, in the Triangle (4601 N. Lamar Blvd.), is known for serving Belgian-style fries and pita pockets stuffed with balls of falafel. 323-2259, maozusa.com.

• Opening today: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the seventh Austin location of the California-based coffeeshops, at Slaughter Lane and MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) in Circle C. 5701 W. Slaughter Lane. 394-9010, coffeebeanaustin.com.

• Opening Friday : Lenoir, the prix-fixe restaurant at 1807 S. First St. from former Trio chef Todd Duplechan and his wife, Jessica Maher. 215-9778, lenoirrestaurant.com.

• Opening Monday : Easy Tiger Bake Shop and Beer Garden, 709 E. Sixth St., the newest (and much-delayed) restaurant from the 24 Diner team, including chef Andrew Curren, who appeared on this season of "Top Chef: Texas." 614-4972, facebook.com/EasyTigerATX.

• Renamed: Madam Mam's at 4514 West Gate Blvd. has changed its name to Sap's. The Anderson Lane and campus locations will still be called Madam Mam's.

• Closed: Technique, the restaurant inside Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts near the Domain.

Upcoming food and wine events

• On Saturday, the Houston-based Saint Arnold Brewing Company will host a pub crawl downtown that starts at 2 p.m. For details about which bars are on the tour and how to participate, go to saintarnold.com.

• Jack Allen's Kitchen is hosting a multicourse dinner paired with various tequilas at 6 p.m. Tuesday that will raise money for the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation. Five area chefs are participating: Albert Benitez of Cover 2, Bryce Gilmore of Barley Swine, chef and cookbook author Rebecca Rather and Chris TenEyck and Jack Gilmore of Jack Allen's Kitchen. • East Side Show Room chef Sonya Coté is pairing with local hunter-gatherer-cook Tink Pinkard for her next Homegrown Revival supper club dinner Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The dinner, which takes place at Springdale Farm in East Austin, will revolve around doves that Pinkard harvested during dove season, which ended earlier this month. • Bread and Circus Supper Club, an outlet from the folks behind Pink Avocado catering, is hosting its next dinner Wednesday at Palm Door downtown. The seven-course menu revolves around the theme of the seven deadly sins. Tickets ($85, pinkavocadoblog.com) include wine and cocktails.

• Homefield Grill is hosting a five-course beer dinner at 7 tonight. Tickets cost $49.95 a person, and you can make reservations by calling 388-4663.

• The Blind Cafe, an in-the-dark dining experience that features live music from Rosh & One Eye Glass Broken, is returning to Austin for the third time Jan. 26-28, with a series of dinners at University Avenue Church of Christ, 1903 University Ave. Tickets can be purchased on a sliding scale ($45 to $95) at theblindcafe.com/austin-blind-cafe.html. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Bell Program, a two-week Braille workshop for children in Austin who are blind.
