I think we can all agree that Houston had kind of a lousy 2017 except for the part where the Astros won the World Series over the heavily-favored Los Angeles Dodgers. (It still feels weird to type that out and we’re only weeks away from spring training.)
Now, Austinites can see the trophy that Astros brought home with them.
Gov. Greg Abbott said he is presenting rhe 2017 World Series trophy at the Texas Capitol from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Public Reception Room today Jan. 9.
On Jan. 10, the championship trophy tour will continue at Pluckers Wing Bar (3909 South Lamar) from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. with J.D Davis, James Hoyt and Brad Peacock in attendance. There will be trivia games, prizes and player interaction but no autographs.
However, the trophy stops next at the Academy Sports + Outdoors (5400 Brodie Ln) from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Fans will get a one-hour autograph session with the players. Autograph passes be distributed and fans may photograph the World Series Trophy with one autograph pass per person. The pass does not guarantee an autograph. Players will only sign commemorative World Champion autograph cards, provided at the Academy location.
