Want to learn how to make drinks for holiday entertaining? El Chipiron is hosting a gin and tonic workshop that will show you to make three different types of Spanish-style G&Ts the restaurant has mastered.

Friday, Dec. 1

Wine and Cheese Pairing at the Driftwood Tasting Room, 4 to 8 p.m. The new Hill Country bar is hosting a class about the art of food pairing. Try three wines with three cheeses. $15.

Saturday, Dec. 2

December First Saturday at Independence Brewing, 1 to 7 p.m. Join Independence for an afternoon of brews and bands. Illustrated Man Dark Sour is back on tap; other beers include a new blackberry saison.

Texas Keeper’s Cider Noir Release, 2 to 6 p.m. The far South Austin cidery is releasing its warming winter seasonal with the LeRoy & Lewis barbecue truck providing meaty pairings.

Holiday Beer Tasting at the Ginger Man, 3 p.m. ‘Tis the season for the Ginger Man’s annual tasting, which will feature eight beers with paired bites and prizes. $45.

Sunday, Dec. 3

St. Elmo Brewing One-Year Anniversary, noon to 8 p.m. Toast to the South Austin brewery with one of a variety of beers on tap. St. Elmo is also hosting its first-ever bottle release.

77 Degrees Rooftop Bar’s Cold Moon Party, 9 p.m. The Rock Rose bar is hosting its monthly fiesta with fire dancers, bongo drummers, a henna tattoo artist and other activities.

Monday, Dec. 4

Easy Tiger’s Christmas Beer Flights, 11 a.m. through Dec. 5. Enjoy a flight of four beers, like the classic Anchor Christmas Ale, to get yourself into the holiday spirit.

Still Austin Whiskey Holiday Party, 5 p.m. Irene’s will have cocktails featuring Still Austin Whiskey, such as the Mother Pepper Punch, and a couple of vendor pop-ups will help you get a jump on your holiday shopping.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

“Elf” Pub Run and Screening, 6 to 9 p.m. Run to the Paramount Theatre with other folks who share an affinity for elf culture. The night includes ice-skating, a costume contest, a free beer and, of course, the movie “Elf.” $11.

Vox Table’s Hudson Whiskey Holiday Dinner, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. In celebration of Repeal Day, the Lamar Union restaurant is hosting this four-course feast with a variety of Hudson whiskeys. $95.

Flavors of Mexico: Tamales and Tintos, 7:30 to 10 p.m. Alcomar’s three-part dinner series closes out with this three-course feast of tamales and Spanish wines.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

The Carillon’s Sparkling Wine Dinner, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The three-course feast pairs champagnes and sparkling wines from European countries like Spain, Italy and France with complementing dishes inspired by the region. $55.

Thursday, Dec. 7

Krampusnacht Beer Dinner at Live Oak Brewing, 6 p.m. Celebrate the season at the brewery with a four-course dinner from the Black Forest and live music by the Dead Music Capital Band. $58.

Opal Divine’s 15th Annual Whisky Festival, 7 to 10 p.m. Whiskies from Scotland, Ireland and beyond will be featured at this fest benefiting Meals on Wheels and More. $43.19. 

Friday, Dec. 8

Pils! Pils! Pils! The Sold Gold Party at the ABGB, 5 p.m. The ABGB is celebrating its big wins at the Great American Beer Festival (including being named large brewpub of the year for the second year running).

Duchman Family Winery’s Annual Holiday Wine Dinner, 7 p.m. The Driftwood winery is hosting a three-course surf-and-turf dinner with house wines and holiday cheer. $85. 

Saturday, Dec. 9

Captain Keith's Cellar'Bration at Flying Saucer Austin, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flying Saucer is bringing out some truly tasty brews from the cellar, such as Founders CBS, The Bruery White Chocolate and Saint Arnold Bishop’s Barrel 19. $24.

Sunday, Dec. 10

Gingerbooze House Decorating, 2 to 4 p.m. Vinaigrette is hosting a craft session that will help you unwind amid the holiday hustle and bustle. There will be eggnog and boozy hot chocolate. $25.

Monday, Dec. 11

The Craft Series at 1886 Cafe & Bakery, 6 p.m. This month’s beer pairing dinner at the Driskill features four beers from East Austin’s Hi Sign Brewing. $40.

Aviary Wine + Kitchen’s Krush Juice DGance Party, 9 p.m. The restaurant will transform into a dance space for one night while party-goers enjoy more than seven different wines from the Vine St. Imports portfolio. $25.

Wednesday, Dec. 13

Texas Whiskey Class and Dinner at the Bonneville, 7 to 10 p.m. The downtown restaurant is hosting a whiskey tasting and dinner with Firestone & Robertson’s head distiller, Rob Arnold. $75.

Thursday, Dec. 14

Austin Beer Guide Best of 2017 Party and Issue Release Party, 6 p.m. Find out the winners of this year’s brewery scene at the ABGB, which will have Craft Santa, guest beers and more.

Sours and Stouts Night at Banger’s, 7 p.m. The Rainey Street beer bar is hosting a friendly competition between Colorado breweries Odell Brewing and Avery Brewing, both of which are taking over the taps.

Friday, Dec. 15

Freedmen’s 5th Birthday & Pig Roast, 6 to 9 p.m. Celebrate this big birthday with a Southern-style whiskey tasting and pig roast in Freedmen’s beer garden. The restaurant will also have regular whiskey specials throughout the month. $25.

Saturday, Dec. 16

Treaty Oak’s Winter Luau, 12 to 9 p.m. Head to the Hill Country distilling ranch for an afternoon featuring a special reserve rum, food specials, live music and a good cause.

Circle Brewing’s Party Pig Imperial Porter Release Party, 1 to 5 p.m. Celebrate the tapping of Circle’s newest seasonal — with pigs from Central Texas Pig Rescue.

Sunday, Dec. 17

Still Austin Whiskey’s Holiday Art Market, 12 p.m. The South Austin whiskey distillery is hosting local artists and craftsmen for an afternoon of cocktails and last-minute holiday shopping.

Sundayfundaymas at the ABGB, 2 p.m. The ABGB will have an afternoon of activities, including Wild Bill’s Reindeer Games, a stumpf tournament, a musician’s market and song swap, and more. 

The Hightower Does the Holidays, 7 p.m. Head to this East Austin restaurant for their Christmas party hosted along with Zilker Brewing. The $10 admission will include food and drinks, including hot and cold cocktails. 

Monday, Dec. 18

Holiday Gin & Tonic Mixology Class at El Chipiron, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn how to make the Spanish-style G&Ts that El Chipiron has mastered. You’ll make three and enjoy food pairings. $65.

Thursday, Dec. 21

Come and Taste It in Gruene, 5 to 8 p.m. The Grapevine in the Gruene Historic District is hosting this monthly wine tasting featuring the wines of Llano Estacado, with live music by Ryan Waguespack.

2nd Annual Winter Solstice Farm Party, 6 to 10 p.m. Eden East, the restaurant at Springdale Farm, is hosting this night of live music, cocktails, a pig roast, local vendor market and more. Cozy up to the bonfire on this first official winter’s night. $85.

Friday, Dec. 22

Glass Half Full’s Tacky Christmas Sweater Party, 6 p.m. The bar at the Alamo Lakeline is encouraging you to wear your ugliest sweater at this fiesta with a photo booth, drink specials and Christmas games.
