AA-S Best Bet - 'Stax, Wax, Trax':
Get down and work it out with more than 20 musicians, dancers, DJs and scholars at "Stax, Wax, Trax," a tribute to one of the greatest soul record labels of all time. Founded in 1957, Stax Records was home to legendary recording artists such as Otis Redding ("(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay"), Booker T & the MGs (the Stax "house band" that also backed John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as the Blues Brothers), the Staples Singers and Isaac Hayes ("Shaft"), among many others. Tonight's tribute includes such Stax-themed activities as the "Fabulous Funk Peepshow Dancers," Memphis soul food plates, "Can't Be Still" dance contest, "Mr & Miz Fly Style" costume contest, "Stax Fax" game show and prizes from the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Proceeds from tonight benefit KOOP Radio and the Stax Music Academy in Memphis.

From the promoter:
An evening celebrating Memphis soul from the legendary Stax record label. T-Bird and the Breaks bring the sweet soul music, DJs spin Stax trax between sets, dancers provide a sneak peek of the upcoming FunkPeepShow, Rick "Daddy" McNulty of KOOP's 'Excavation Nation' hosts a Stax Fax Gameshow with prizes from the Soulsville Foundation, and the Victory Grill's Bay Seas cafe will serve a "Memphis soul food plate" for the evening. Proceeds benefit the Stax Music Academy in Memphis.
