Winter is no longer coming, it has arrived: The seventh season of “Game of Thrones” premieres on July 16, and there are a number of ways to celebrate its return.
Watch the premiere on a 25-foot screen at The North Door. The North Door’s watch parties are the most famous in Austin, and they’re back for another year. Each week to follow, they’ll be showing the previous week’s episode followed by the new episode, starting with episodes one and two on July 23. See more events from The North Door here.
Watch the premiere at the Austin Toy Museum. Watch the season 6 finale followed by the new episode. Costumes encouraged!
Watch the premiere and enjoy themed foods at Banger’s. The Rainey Street bar will screen the last two episodes of season 6 before the premiere, and they’ll be serving Ommegang beers and two themed dishes: Dragon Eggs, a Creole-seasoned chicken meatball deep fried and topped with an orange, smoked habanero bacon glaze, and Theon Greyjoy, a non-traditional blood sausage topped with Cognac-macerated apples and black currants. Costumes encouraged!
Watch the last episode of season six and the premiere with themed cocktails at 3TEN ACL Live on their 20-foot video wall. There will be awards for the best costumes and trivia winners! They’ll also be telling attendees to refrain from talking and put their cell phones on silent while the actual premiere airs.
Enjoy themed beers at the Whip In with names like the Valar Doheris Belgian Style Tripel, the Bend the Knee Golden Ale and the Rosetta Cherry Oud Bruin. The beers from Ommegang will be tapped on July 14.
Go back to season one with a round of trivia at Hops and Grain on July 23. Start with social hour with fellow GoT nerds, then put your skills to the test.
