Whether you’re ringing in 2018 with friends, family or a significant other, you’re probably trying to choose between Austin’s many New Year’s Eve events. Choices are hard. We’ve got some ideas for you.

Austin’s New Year’s Eve at Auditorium Shores. The city of Austin is throwing its annual New Year’s Eve bash on the shores of Lady Bird Lake with kid-friendly activities, live music and food truck cuisine — all free of charge.

Noon Year’s Eve Balloon Drop & Bubble Wrap Stomp at the Thinkery. If your kiddos are too young to make it to midnight (or if you think they shouldn’t be staying up that late anyway), check out the noon and 2 p.m. balloon drops at Austin’s children museum with winter crafts and “snowball” flights.

Third Annual Launderette New Year’s Eve Celebration at Launderette. Get the new year started a little early with a four-course prix fixe dinner for $85 per person.

NYE 1976! at Hotel Vegas & The Volstead. Party like it’s 1976, randomly, featuring the best music from 41 years ago. Think ABBA, Tom Petty, The Ramones, Blondie and more.

Grupo Fantasma and Capyac at Empire. Oh, you’re into dancing? Austin’s world class cumbia ensemble has the hip-switching grooves to make you move, and electro funk duo Capyac spent the year destroying dancefloors around the country. Capyac served pancakes on stage at their Austin City Limits Music Festival set this year, so who knows what they’ll cook up for New Year’s Eve. Superfónicos, Trouble in the Streets and Continental Drift also play the two-stage bash.

NYE with Golden Dawn Arkestra, Holy Wave and Daikaiju at Barracuda. This all-ages show with the jazz and funk group (and easily the best-costumed band in Austin) will set off your 2018 in the most avant garde Austin way possible.

Saved by the Ball: NYE at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Party like it’s the early aughts with covers of classic Weezer, No Doubt, Blink 182 and Alanis Morisette (among others).

All That Glitters NYE Party at Azul Rooftop Pool Bar + Lounge. Ring in 2018 from high over Austin with an open bar, a champagne toast and light bites for $165 per person.

Bob Schneider’s New Year’s Eve Party at the Paramount. He’s one of Austin’s most beloved artists, and he loves celebrating the holidays with his hometown.

BODY ROCK ATX: Moon Masquerade at the Sahara Lounge. It’s one of Austin’s top dance parties, this time with free chicken wings (seriously).

Neon New Year’s Eve at Punch Bowl Social. If you’d rather avoid the downtown crowds, Punch Bowl Social in the Domain is hosting a party straight outta the 1980s. Costumes encouraged!

Keep It Quiet: The NYE Party 2017 at Fair Market. Keep it quiet or tell everyone you know. A ticket gets you drinks, pizza and more, and it’s all for a good cause: The Clifford Antone Foundation.

“Wild” New Year’s Parties at W Austin. Get wild at two separate parties -- the “Urban Wild” party, which has a “modern street culture” theme, and the “Jungle Glam” party, which has “wild rides and ferocious surprises.” Choose your own adventure.

Are we missing something? Add it to our event calendar here and choose “New Year’s Eve” as the category.
