Don’t get all these new rock bands posing as duos: If Blondie was a new band, “Parallel Lines” would show just Debbie Harry and Chris Stein on the cover. This NYC couple of singer Madeline Folin, with the dog-calling octave, and guitarist Brian Oblivian are augmented live by bass, drums and a second guitar so they can recreate the impressive new album “Static” and 2011’s self-titled major label debut. Both are dreamy, Chinatown pop records with almost the same album cover idea. Kids these days. SACCO and Mood Rings open.
Also performing: Brennen Leigh at Rattle Inn; No Bunny at Red 7; Motown Mondays at One-2-One Bar; Dale Watson & His Lone Stars at the Continental Club; Hot Nut Riveters, McKinney/Scalzo/Sexton at Strange Brew; Rock and Roll Karaoke at Beerland; the Old Five and Dimers, The Bluebird Specials at the Hole in the Wall; Bob Schneider, the Drakes, James Bullard at Saxon Pub.

Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge, Lady Bird Lake. Free. www.thirstart.org.
More than 300 million trees have perished in Texas because of the extreme and exceptional drought of the last few years (recent devastating rains have not lifted the region out of the drought). To artistically memorialize the loss and call attention to water conservation, a temporary art project with a 35-foot drought-ravaged cedar elm tree painted white has been in in Lady Bird Lake since September, its roots seeming to hover just above the water. Sponsored by Women & Their Work, “Thirst” is a collaboration between artist Beili Liu, architects Emily Little and Norma Yancey and landscape architect Cassie Bergstrom. “Thirst” remains on view through Dec. 20.
