Big Tex to be featured on Travel Channel show ‘Giant America’

Big Tex received a medical checkup from Dr. Ray Tsai, president of Children's Health Pediatric Group on Sept. 25, 2014, at Fair Park in Dallas, the day before the State Fair of Texas opens. The doctor used a large wooden tongue dispenser to check his throat. He also tested Tex's new shoulder, arm, hand and eye movements, as well as his heart rate. (Tom Fox/The Dallas Morning News)

Big Tex, the appropriately outsized mascot of the Texas State Fair, is making an appearance of the Travel Channel show “Giant America” on Jan. 15.

On “Giant America,” comedian Tom Green (and wow, when was the last time you thought about ol’ Tom?)  will look at “massive structures," according to a press release.

Look for the former Mr. Drew Barrymore to give us a behind the scenes on what makes Big Tex tick (literally). Also he will try to eat an enormous steak. (Does 85 ounces count as enormous? Let us know in the comments.)

The half-hour TV show premieres on Jan. 15.
