Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings will go on tour for the first time in more than two years, after Jones was diagnosed with cancer before the release of fifth record, “Give the People What They Want.” From a news release: “Thanks to an extremely gifted medical staff, several months of recovery and the infinite love and support from friends, family and fans, Sharon is back, ready to once again join her Dap-Kings as they share their music with people around the globe.”
The tour will kick off Feb. 6 at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Before the 2014 shows, the band will perform on a float during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
