UPDATE: SXSW has canceled tonight’s screening of “The Raid 2” because the wrong version of the film was downloaded to their server. More than 1,000 people were in the Paramount Theatre for the screening when it was canceled, an hour after it was supposed to begin. Organizers say they will show the film twice more. Check the SXSW website for showtimes.

UPDATE: Screenings will be on Monday and Tuesday, rather than two on Monday, as first reported. See sxsw.com for updates.

This is the second screening in the first three days of the festival that has been canceled. On Friday, the opening night of the festival, Austin director Michael Tully’s “Ping Pong Summer” screening was canceled at the Marchesa. It was scheduled to screen at 9:30 p.m., just like “The Raid 2,” but because of technical issues the screening was moved to around midnight at the Alamo Village.

Earlier report below:

A screening of “The Raid 2” has been delayed by at least 45 minutes at the Paramount Theatre. Statesman movie editor Charles Ealy reports that the movie started, but it was the Indonesian version without English subtitles. The audience started hooting, and five minutes in, the screening stopped.

As staff tries to get the subtitled version onto the server, director Gareth Evans first invited two of his cast members up to demonstrate some martial arts moves and now is taking questions from the audience.
